Chachoengsao Province
The province of Chachoengsao is located about 100kmm to the east of Bangkok. It covers an area of of over 5000 sq km which is mainly low basin land which is suitable for cultivation, mainly of rice which provides the principal income for the province.
The township of Chachoengsao is located on the banks of the Bang Pakong River, about 24 km from the estuary. It is believed to have been founded during the Ayutthaya period.

Places of Attraction

Wat Sothon Wararam Woravihara
This monastery is located on the river bank, about 2 km south of the township. The temple enshrines the highly revered image, Phra Putthasothon or as it is commonly known to the local people, Luang Pho Sothon. The image is in the attitude of meditation and has a lap width of 1.65m and a height of 1.98m. Two annual fairs to pay tribute to Luang Pho Sothon; one in the middle of the 12th lunar month, the other in the middle of the 5th lunar month.

Wat Pho Bang Khla
This temple is located about 23 km from the centre of Chachoengsao. The trees within the at compound are home to thousands of fruit bats which can be seen hanging from the tree branches during the day before flying off at dusk to forage for food.

Somdet Phra Sri Nakharin Park
This park, with an area of about 90 rai, is located in front of the Chachoengsao City Hall. The park has been landscaped with various trees and has a large pond in the middle.
